The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for. |

The new coat of arms and the flag picture the blue sky with stars above green, black and white curved fields representing vegetation and mineral wealth of the region - the coal and salt. These symbols were changed from previous reflecting the decision of the High Commissioner regarding the displaying and using of the common, neutral and inoffensive symbols.
The Tuzla Canton is established in February 1999 by changing the name of the former Tuzla - Podrinje Canton.

The gates of Tuzla are the central element of the cantonal coat of arms, and the cheques and crescent represent the two major nations of the canton - Croats and Bosniaks. The blue waves under the doors represent the three main rivers and the lake of the region - Drina, Sava and Spreča and Lake Modrac. The crown is a variation of the old Bosnian crown with fleurs-de-lis, the kind used among other arms, on the Austro-Hungarian coats of arms of Bosnia. The flag is green-white-red, the green occuping the top 70% of the width while the other two stripes occuping 15% each. The coat of arms is set in the middle of the first half of the flag.
